Wheelchairs will be given to children, teens and adults with physical disabilities in developing countries
TORRANCE, Calif. (October 29, 2013) - Convaid, Inc., a Torrance-based manufacturer of lightweight, compact-folding, adaptive-assisted wheelchairs, recently donated four pallets of wheelchairs and parts to UCP Wheels for Humanity (UCP Wheels). UCP Wheels, a subsidiary of United Cerebral Palsy Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties, increases access to mobility for children, teens, and adults with physical disabilities in developing countries.
In addition to producing best-in-class mobility devices for thousands of young people around the world every year, Convaid advocates on behalf of special needs families by forming important partnerships, and contributing both in-kind and financially, to organizations such as UCP Wheels. Convaid has partnered with UCPLA for many years through volunteer opportunities, joint marketing efforts, speaking engagements, and parent conferences.
"We are so grateful for this gift and our longstanding partnership with Convaid," said UCP Wheels for Humanity Executive Director Michael Allen. "Their contributions over the years have allowed us to provide mobility to thousands of children in need around the world, making opportunities like school participation and community engagement available to them for the first time."
Convaid manufactures pediatric push wheelchairs in a variety of sizes and models. The patented compact folding mechanism allows custom wheelchairs to be easily carried up steps, placed in the trunk of most compact cars, or used while traveling. Convaid backs its products with one of the best warranties in the industry and a highly responsive customer service department. Convaid’s goal is to provide the best combination of corrective positioning, comfort, durability and safety for the user, in a product that is both attractive and easy-to-use for the caregiver.
Convaid, the company that invented the adaptive assisted wheelchair, has helped special needs children and their families live fuller, more productive lives since 1976. Convaid produces high-performance, easy-to-use and attractive mobility products for all stages of a young person’s life, from infancy to young adulthood. Each product is custom-built to individual specifications to provide the optimum comfort, safety, and convenience.
