So in addition to utilizing the lightweight wheelchair tiedown and occupant restraint system, which secures the chair and provides the occupant with a properly designed and tested seatbelt system, Convaid offers an integrated lap belt.

The integrated lap belt secures the wheelchair occupant in the folding portable wheelchair prior to being loaded onto the motor vehicle. It provides a safer ride on the bus lift and facilitates the securement process once loaded. Once in the bus, the lightweight wheelchair’s lap belt connects to the shoulder restraint utilized on the bus.

For smaller children who weigh less then 65 pounds, Convaid has developed a crash tested 5-point harness system in the pediatric wheelchairs and strollers. This 5-point harness will keep small children safer because it is attached to the pediatric wheelchair rather then the vehicle, providing a closer fit.
