On Saturday, October 28, 2017, Convaid | R82 will participate in the 8th Annual Rettsyndrome.org Strollathon in Coconut Grove, Florida — the third Rett event this month –where we will present a Certificate of Donation to a lucky raffle winner for their choice of either a Convaid pediatric wheelchair or an R82 walker, stander, gait trainer or hygiene product.
The Coconut Grove Rett Strollathon organized by a local dad, Dr. Henry Perez who expects that this year the event will bring in upwards of $100,000 yet again to accelerate research and empower families living with Rett in Florida, where over 200 families are affected by the condition, including Henry’s 21-year old daughter, Lily.
The Halloween-themed event will be held in Tradewinds Park in Coconut Grove from 9AM to 2PM will include a trick-or-treat stroll, costume contest, raffles and special appearance by Rettsyndrome.org’s Chief Operating Officer, Gordy Rich.
Convaid | R82 has a 15-year history with Rettorganization.org that started in California with Sherri Brady who had been advocating for her daughter Lauren, a Convaid Rodeo wheelchair user. Since then, Convaid | R82 has worked closely with Jackie Ventura, the organization’s Family Development Manager to build a program of planned giving across North America.
Convaid | R82 is no stranger to Rett syndrome, a rare, but severe brain disorder that affects primarily girls that is typically discovered within the first two years of life. It is rarely seen in boys. Rett syndrome has a global occurrence of 1 in every 10,000 to 23,000 female births.
Convaid | R82 products offer pediatric products typically prescribed to individuals with mild to moderate involvement with Rett syndrome and a wide range of cognitive and mobility-limiting conditions.
