Torrance, CA (October 10, 2016) – Global prevalence of Cerebral Palsy ranges from 1.5 to more than 4 per 1,000 live births and is the most common motor disability in childhood. Convaid and R82 products are often prescribed for children living with Cerebral Palsy to facilitate mobility and daily living.
In support United Cerebral Palsy of Oregon and Southwestern Washington, Convaid and R82 will participate in this UCP affiliate’s 17th Semi-Annual Family Support Conference on Cerebral Palsy & Developmental Disabilities to be held on October 21-22, 2016 at the Holiday Inn Portland Airport Hotel, located at 8439 NE Columbia Blvd, Portland, OR 97220. The Portland-based affiliate has advanced independence, productivity and full citizenship of people living with Cerebral Palsy and other disabilities since 1955.
Convaid and R82 will participate in the two-day conference where Business Development Representative Rob Proracki will present a donation of a Convaid lightweight, compact folding pediatric wheelchair to a family designated by the affiliate. This year’s theme is We Are Family and the keynote speaker is Lou Radja, a Congo native and an inspiring, positive international speaker. Click here for an advance view.

The first webinar, Seating and Mobility, held last month, is available on demand. It defined Cerebral Palsy causes, risks factors, classification and description of the different types of Cerebral Palsy while addressing specific seating and mobility issues. It covered classifications based on type, bodily involvement and severity. The Gross Motor Functional Classification Scale was discussed as a reference for Cerebral Palsy severity and equipment options. Specific clinical manifestations found in each type of cerebral palsy were explored in the context of seating and mobility options of Convaid and R82 products. You may click here to view.
